RC glider and sailplane

I really didn't start getting substantial airtime and outrageous fun until I built my first foam glider in 1997 - the Schweizer 1-26 Foamie HLG from Dave's Aircraft Works. After years of absence from flying gliders, I just got back involved and graduated to the Multiplex EasyGlider. I am trying to decide what to build this winter (leaning towards the G-V-60)... and will keep a list of Foam glider manufacturers here:

aerofoam.com - (on hold/for sale) mosquito hawk
dream-flight.com - alula, weasel
fatboycombatwing.com - Australian combat wings
flycs.co.nz - arrow, spitfire, dart, falcon, eaglet, eagle, eraser, ranger, etc
futureslopedesigns.com - raptor, kaze, etc
l2airframes.com - jw 60, super scooter
leadingedgegliders.com - guppy, le fish, prairie dog, 2m crossover, & loads of combat planes!
liftworx.com - mycro, swyft
multiplexusa.com - easyglider, cularis, blizzard
northcountyflyingmachines.com - moth, halfpipe, bluto
offtheedge.com.au - high performance EPP foam gliders
parkzone.com - radian rtf
phoenixmp.com - (uk) trainers, planks and thermal
skykingrcproducts.com - offers out-of-production models by buying rights from original owners
steelheadproducts.com eureka
stevedrake.com - gulp, g-v-48 & 60 (some collapsible)
windrider.com.hk - ash-26, BeEvolution, fox, easy pro, etc
wingwarrior.com - flying wings
wowings.com - flying wings
wyowindworks.com - slope monkey
zagi.com - flying wings
zsysteme.com - flying wings and more

Another option for foam lovers is to build your own from scratch or from an inexpensive chuck glider - there is an excellent forum dedicated to scratch building with foam at RCgroups.com.

Update: I decided to build FSD's Kaze

I have a JW Dynamic Soaring slope glider. It is all EPP with carbon rods in the wing.

that looks like a fun plane although I think it has been discontinued and perhaps replaced by the arrow, I think they call that a flying plank, right? Do you live near any hills, what do you have in Michigan? Sand dunes?

I think I found the JW you were talking about - was originally a Bowman model - now sold by L2 Airframes

Eric is correct...

Tom Copp of F3X.COM and myself (along with a couple of the other local guys in SoCal) were playing around with EPP slope planes. They had a special slope race class for them and Tom knew he could build a plane way faster than a Zagi on the slope. Zagi's just couldn't retain energy through a turn, mostly due to the large chord swept back wings.. He modeled the Bandit after a composite plane (think it was an old SNIPE). Indeed, it flew great and we whooped Zagi's.

Probably about 2 years later with the advent of DS'ing, Pat Bowman took this same basic design with a faster airfoil to make the JW..

I like foam gliders. I have an Easy Glider Electric, a Zagi and a Boomer ( mountain models ). I also have a Radian on the way. These tend to be fun planes, trainer planes and travel planes. At the other end are my Supra, Ava and Thermal Dancer. So I enjoy flying planes at both ends of the spectrum.

I have a Cularis which is one of my favorite planes. I 'had' an EGE, which the winds gods saw fit to take over the mountain. Live and learn? Well, no... I 'had' an EGPro with 30some Leds buried in it. Well, the long story short. We set a new long distance night flying record with it at Joe Nall this year. It was out around 2 miles. YES!!! 2 miles. We were still flying it! We were at the 3d line and it went down across 220 in the yard next to the church. Yup... 2 miles. I now have another EGE which is in the box, but is going to be my experimental tow glider. See if we can get that down to a science. And then I have the Multiplex Fox. And yes, it's going to get RC equipped. The micro glider. In fact I spent most of the afternoon thinking about this. And, then there is the Ghetto Glider. What's a Ghetto Glider? Well, you start with one of those cheapy foam free flight gliders like from Wally World and start the mods. We have a club contest scheduled for the Ghetto Gliders next month. So far, about 10 members have been building them.

That's about where I am with foam gliders at the moment.
