The Princess is awake and giving orders. She's still stir crazy, but we brought her a Reader's Digest and today's newspaper earlier today though and that seemed to help. We just took her computer and cellphone to her and that seems to help her also. Don't go calling her though. I still have all of her calls forwarded over to my phone. We're still hoping that she can get into a normal room tomorrow. The doctor is still worried just a little about her blood pressure and her oxygen saturation levels. She pretty much laid out her plans for me when she gets her own room, where I can stay with her all the time instead of in the waiting room. She made the "princess" face and waved her hand like you'd wave a servant away and said the magic words, "BlueBell ice cream". I now understand that I will be more tired next week than I am this week. I didn't think it would be possible!

Sounds to me like Laurie is handling it a lot better than I would John. I'd have already gone stir crazy by now. Then again I'm pretty sure I've got a head start in the crazy department. She'll be back making sure you stay on that diet soon enough.

You obviously mean a "lightnin' struck sheep on a hilltop".. Must be the pain getting to you. LOL

Checked in on Laurie this morning. She's starting to get a little stir crazy. With no windows to the outside world and no TV, time has lost all sense of normal flow. She's begging for her computer and her phone. She was up in a chair this morning and got back into bed and received her pain meds right before I came in. I knew something was wrong when she told me something about fixing somebody's tractor. She seemed really agitated also and we finally figured out that she still had those no-slip hospital socks on her feet and they were hot. She was better when her Mom took them off. Other than that, she seems to be doing better with the pain. Mom just came out of the room and said she helped Laurie get up to go to the bathroom, so that's a bonus. I think she'd be 1000% better if she could get out of ICU and into a private room where she has a little more control.

Hoss, a mans got to have hobbies to cover all occasions! Battlestar, that brings back a lot of tv memories, i never missed an episode as a kid. Yep, it takes some getting used to, having the bed to yourself, prayers that you get good news soon.

Well I'm out of action for a few days too, this morning while picking up a few loads of old green waste for a friend in need I managed to spike my left calf four times with a rotten spiny date palm frond, nasty damn thing, only one of them broke off at the skin, the other three i couldn't tell if any had broken off inside. I managed to extract the obvious one and it was an inch and a quarter long. went to the hospital emergency ward, after a short wait of 40 minutes they did a quick non-specialist ultrasound and couldn't find anything obvious inside. Was given a antibiotics and must wait and see what happens. In the meantime it hurts like hades and has gone stiffer than a lightnin' struck horse on a hilltop.

What a b@st@ard.. do you folks have this spiny date palm over there? Surely we aren't the only country to be cursed with it.

Thanks to Chris and John for the good news updates (I really need to check my E-mail more often). Incidentally, I'm watching Caprica too.

Hi guys,

After I left today, they sat Laurie up in a chair for an hour and a half and did a little physical therapy with her. After that they gorked her out on morphine so she'd be able to deal with any pain. I got to see her around 5pm this afternoon and she wanted to sleep more than anything else. I figured she was okay and decided to come on home and skip the last visiting hour since she would be asleep anyway. Stan, Kat and of course, Duffy the Wonder Mutt are here. They're out goofing around a bit and getting some dog food then they'll be home later. I guess she's doing fine, but I hate not having her here at home. Doesn't seem like home without her here. I'm laying across the bed watching Caprica on the PsyFi channel while burning dvd's of Battlestar Galactica to Itunes. I forgot to mention I'm a psyfi fan? Yep! I'm a geek and proud of it!

Sean... I don't think any of us could top that bench plan no matter how hard we tried! Those were some great tools and I sure wish I had a set of them for my shop! Maybe when I get to AZ....but I doubt it.
