Eric,
thanks I will check the sites.
About yesterday, we were 5-6 or use. There is a guy which is really good, but he does really like doing high speed flybyes 2 ft over your head. I don t personally appreciate that and at some point that "genius" crashed its Le Fish a foot form me.
Then, 15 minutes later, two planes has an air collision in front of me. So yes I certainly understand you about being nervous...

yep, yesterday was perfect, glad you got to fly too. I was feeling burnt to a crisp after an hour and a half. I was on the hogback loop trail. It's right in front of my house and I have the whole slope to myself. I've never flown with others so I think I would be nervous about midair collisions...

I have heard 20% to 30% if I remember correctly. it seems planks can be farther forward. if it's a flying wing or plank this is a good thread. are you good with math?

hei,

yesterday I was at NCAR , it was a perfect day! I was flying for three hours under a really african sun! Too bad I did not get to see you there.
By the way I have a question for you, is there any thumb rule for the cg of an airplane ready for maiden? I mean I found this old timer glider at my airfield. I for now balance at 30% chord but I guess for sloping the cg must be ahead right?

Took my easyglider up the hog back loop trail yesterday and was in heaven - 5 to 10 mph with good thermals was very enjoyable, much better than overlooking Wonderland Lake because the slope is a lot steeper. the landing area was very friendly, of course the long grass helps but the shape of the slope seems perfect for gentle landings.

As I was leaving there was a burst of wind and I couldn't resist flying the South East side which connects two East faces. this is the third time I have done this so it's not a fluke. Works sort of like a pump where you can climb on the first east face and fly downwind across the Southeast which curves gently around to the second east face, climb again and head back to the first east slope. it's curious but seems like there is often lift on the southeast and east at the same time. Some pictures below.

have a great weekend!

5 oz? i could use one of those! i'm hoping to get an alula later this year.

hmmm, i thought fri would have been great at ncar. today is the first time i've seen the weather stations so out of wack with my north boulder sites...

well Eric,

that was I was telling you. NCAR drives me crazy almost systematically.
Last friday I was there and I flew a bit with my lightest plane ( a flying wing swift which weights 5 oz) and I was barely up...

today, NCAR was showing Southeast so I got excited and drove over to the hogback trail but it was blowing northeast. Waited 10 minutes and still northeast so I went over to Wonderland Lake where I had some nice flying with my easyglider with the winds ranging between Northeast and Southeast. towards the end it blew steady northeast. strangely, NCAR weather station graphs do not show any northeast during that time...

yes, also too variable, wind direction is all over the place.

I checked right now at Ncar it says SE but it seems to weak to really fly
