There's some simply awesome building and flying depicted on the vids at this site.
An' I don't usually use that word. :o)

Br'er Ed,
I'm w/Eric on this; post all you've got! Even tho' I can't fly (yet!) I do get a thrill out of readin' about it from someone who knows what he's doin' AND can articulate it as well as you do.
Tnx for the few you have posted; I've read 'em…
'Added a flic of the wingtip on my Electricus. It's patterned after the Hoerner tips on Cessnas. I have no idea whether it'll work or not; if not, I can always saw 'em off. But the idea was to prevent tip-stalls, jus' like the originals. A product o…
I'm 61, married to my BFF, and quite happy with that. I'm in recovery from a stroke (4.5 yrs ago) that cost me my R side, so my building is accomplished one-handed. And, at least so far, flying is out of the question for lack of proper coordination in the R hand. But I can't ride my GoldWing either, so it all evens out.

how long have you been flying and what types of gliders?
As mentioned above, I don't fly...yet. But before "my head blew up" I had hundreds of hrs. on my RealFlight sim.
your first glider? your favorite? building now or next?
'Was given an Electricus, which is now waiting for a battery/charger outfit, but is otherwise flight-ready.
The flight sim is very good for orientation issues and can prep you for the real thing. The Electricus looks like a fine plane and should be a good one to start with. If you have sailplanes in your sim, practice those so that you're not dependent on power and you can get used to things like tip stalling and the effects of the wind and thermal activity.
Have you ever flown a pure sailplane? I flew power stuff and FF back when I was a kid and just got back into RC a couple years ago. Went straight to sailplanes and got hooked big time after I caught my first hour flight with a bunch of gulls. There's something about silent flight and the challenges involved dealing strictly with mother nature...I love it...
I have the latest version which I got from eBay. Never used any other so I can't comment really... I find learning to fly the power planes very helpful. Especially the tutorials.
well i've been flying for a while but the sim is teaching me loads, i'm getting better everyday, figured out a bunch of stuff i was itching to learn. having fun with the ds ridgeline now. very tricky at first!
hi HR, thanks for joining! sorry to hear about your stroke... although I can get out and fly, my health problems also limit my flying a lot and I am playing on the simulator also. hang in there. -Eric
BTW, I have a buddy who had a series (4) of strokes in a 2 week span and it went undiagnosed until he could barely stand. It got his left side. It's been 2 years now and he's doing pretty damn good. Still not perfect control but every day he gets better. I'm sure you'll do just fine :).
Welcome to RCG&S HR! Hate to read of your bad time. Just a bunch of loonies here shootin the sh_t and sharing building and flying ideas. Very easy going here compared to some other sites so let it rip.
